Let's Face It - Everyone is Flawed
Prompt: Write something that scares me.
Why? It’s a challenge to explore, and I expect there is something powerful in what’s scary.
I often previously followed the principle of doing what I find scary, and it works as a good indicator of direction to work towards, because it usually signals your comfort zone.
But things can also be scary for good reasons. There’s no point in sharing private things, that shouldn’t be shared, just for the sake of it.
Here’s something scary - because I think uncovers something that I think leads to a deeper truth.
Most people I know, I think they have an underlying flaw or problem that they’re either unaware of or they’re working on. Is there such thing as a fully developed person?
For example some people have an insecurity coming from childhood, that holds them back. Some people get anxious. Many successful people also seem to have a deeper imbalance - struggling with relationships, or being imbalanced, and I wonder if there is a flaw that I’m not more aware of.
My realisation is this:
That we are not here for very long, so we don’t get much time to resolve or improve on issues. Now I’m 39, and when we get busy with projects, we can get sidetracked.
I guess most people are inherently flawed in some ways. For me, I don’t think drinking is a good habit but it seems a standard part of our culture.
I can help to improve myself and help others in the process, by being an example. I can also reflect on what issues I think others have as a lesson to learn.
So there is something true about the saying:
Be the change you wish to see in the world.
And that’s what I hope to live out.
Rather than follow the standard of what’s expected of me.
I have more agency
