You’ve written incredible articles, but they’re not getting any SEO traffic.
There’s one simple reason.
The start - the first 20 lines of your article, are the most important.
I discovered this because I wrote articles that I’d expect to rank well elsewhere but they didn’t rank in Substack.
Writing more and better articles won’t fix it if the opening of your articles aren’t formatted right.
It’s becuase the LCP - the load time of google when first looks at your page.
Speed of load is one critical factor, and if you have an image that loads slowly it degrades the experience.
Here’s what to do:
Check the first 20 lines of the article.
Check the hook - and rewrite it. Something that will likely attract the reader and promise a payoff.
Check the filetype of the first image - WebP is the best because fastest compression. You can use this converter. https://cloudconvert.com/png-to-webp
Check the file size - less than 200kb is better. (The above image is less than 20kb for example)
So, if you do anything on your next articles, or your articles that you expected to do well but they didn’t, focus on the start, the hook.
