Becoming a Szegemon in the Age of AI
Alignment is a much more important concept in the future because we are far more powerful. It’s like we’ve now got a Ferrari engine but it’s on a bicycle.
That’s why we need to improve and strengthen the bicycle to harness the power we now have.

A Szegemon (is a “Syzygy-Hegemon”) represents the rare and powerful moment where multiple independent forces align in a straight line. It means creating yourself as a unique individual - a category of one, that aligns multiple forces and builds enormous personal gravity and power.
In astronomy, a syzygy is the alignment of three or more celestial bodies - like the Sun, Moon, and Earth - which creates massive gravitational effects, such as extreme tides. In a professional and philosophical context, Szegemon is the art of aligning everything and stacking trends to create a level of influence and momentum that would be impossible through a single effort.
The “mon” in Szegemon suggests a move toward Hegemony - not in the sense of oppressive control, but in the sense of becoming the undisputed “category of one.” By stacking trends that others view as disparate, you create a unique ecosystem.
When you achieve this state of Szegemon, your work stops being about labor and starts being about orchestration. You aren’t working harder; you are simply standing at the center of a much larger, perfectly aligned force.
The reason this is so powerful is because it builds massive strategic gravity, aligns focus, and it eliminates waste.
Most people operate as competitors, fighting for incremental gains using someone else’s playbook. A Szegemon (a “Syzygy-Hegemon”) is an architect. By stacking independent trends - such as agentic AI, global talent, and deep domain expertise - they create a unique ecosystem where competition becomes irrelevant. You are no longer fighting for a seat at the table; you have built the room.
When this alignment is fractured, our power is weakened:
Talent + Tech - Purpose: A high-speed chase to nowhere. You are efficiently doing things that don’t actually matter.
Purpose + Talent - Tech: A noble soul with a blunt sword. You have the heart and the skill, but no mechanism to scale your impact.
Tech + Purpose - Talent: A powerful machine with a distracted driver. You have the “why” and the “how,” but lack the mastery to steer the vehicle.
Szegemon (The Perfect Alignment): Absolute momentum. Standing at the center of a perfectly aligned force where work stops being labor and becomes orchestration.
Compound Interest
Another reason alignment is so powerful is because of compound interest.
The “Eighth Wonder”: While often attributed to Einstein, Buffett frequently echoes the sentiment that compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world, noting that those who understand it earn it, and those who don’t, pay it.
Compound interest is the engine of exponential growth, a process where gains are reinvested to generate their own returns, creating a "snowball effect" that defies linear intuition. In business and personal development, this provides a nearly insurmountable competitive advantage because the most significant rewards are back-loaded; while competitors often abandon strategies during the early, "flat" part of the curve, the compounder stays consistent until they hit the "elbow" where growth becomes vertical. This creates a widening gap that is almost impossible to close because you aren't just ahead - you are accelerating at a rate your rivals can't match without the same cumulative history of investment. Whether applied to capital, brand trust, or specialized skills, compounding ensures that your lead isn't just maintained, but is mathematically protected by the sheer volume of time and consistency already baked into your progress.
Stacking Trends
This is similar to the idea of stacking trends.
Trend stacking is the ultimate cheat code for strategic relevance; it’s the art of finding the “sweet spot” where multiple macro-shifts collide to create a force multiplier. Instead of betting your entire future on a single, volatile fad, you layer established movements- think combining the decentralization of work with the explosion of generative AI and the rise of the creator economy. This intersectionality does more than just mitigate risk; it creates a sense of inevitability.
When you align with three or four tectonic shifts simultaneously, your value proposition stops feeling like a “nice-to-have” and starts looking like the only logical conclusion for the market. It’s essentially compound interest for your competitive advantage: the more layers you stack, the harder you are to disrupt and the easier you are to notice in a crowded room.
An Internal Philosophy
Living without an internal philosophy is a bit like sailing a ship without a compass: you’ll certainly move, but you might not like where you end up. An internal philosophy is essentially your personal “operating system.” It’s the set of core principles and filtered truths that guide how you respond to the world, rather than just reacting to it.
When this philosophy is aligned with a clear sense of purpose, it transforms daily chores into meaningful contributions and difficult decisions into clear choices.
Purpose
The direction we work in becomes much more important so it needs to be aligned to a purpose.
Purpose is often treated like a luxury or a poetic “nice-to-have,” but in reality, it functions as a force multiplier for your biological and psychological resources. Without a central purpose, your energy is omnidirectional - you are moving in a thousand directions at once, which usually results in staying exactly where you are. When you align with a clear “why,” that scattered energy is consolidated into a singular, high-pressure stream. This is where true power comes from: the ability to focus all your faculties on a specific point until the barrier breaks.
Beyond internal drive, alignment gives you the power of sovereignty. When you know your purpose, your “No” becomes as powerful as your “Yes.” You stop being a spectator in your own life, reacting to the demands and expectations of others. Instead, you become the primary architect of your time. This clarity eliminates the “decision fatigue” that drains most people; when an opportunity doesn’t align with your core philosophy, you don’t have to agonize over it - you simply discard it. This economy of action is what allows high-achievers to outpace others without appearing to work harder.
It also helps because it helps to focus and filter between signal and noise which is incredibly important.
Faith
Faith functions as the transcendent anchor in the alignment stack, representing a belief in something larger than the self, such as a divine presence, karma, or a universal moral order. It aligns purpose with your own philosophy and allows you to think bigger from a source larger than yourself.

It provides the conviction that your alignment matters for something beyond mere efficiency or profit. It is the anchor that prevents your “personal source code” from becoming a cold, robotic algorithm, ensuring that your pursuit of leverage remains deeply rooted in a higher human intent.
It allows you to let go and trust.
Microphilosophy
The standard approach to philosophy often feels like choosing an “off-the-shelf” operating system. You might install Stoicism for its resilience or Epicureanism for its focus on well-being, but you are ultimately running someone else’s software. Microphilosophy is the transition from a user to a developer. It is the process of deconstructing the world’s greatest intellectual traditions, harvesting the most effective components, and compiling them into your own personal source code.
Rather than following a single school blindly, you curate a “best-of” stack. You might take the emotional detachment of Buddhism for high-stress moments, the relentless logic of Enlightenment thinking for business strategy, and the “flow” of Taoism for creative output. By building your own worldview this way, you ensure that your philosophy is a tool for leverage, not a rigid cage of dogma.
For me for example, I strongly believe in the idea of Humanist accelerationism. Which is why I’m writing this.
I also believe in god, and take ideas from multiple religions and leading thinkers such as Lao Tse, and Naval, and others in my own. I believe in a pragmaticism of using and experimenting with what works, and that we need to define new frameworks and philosophies for a new era without dogma.
Writing Your Source Code
Building a microphilosophy is an act of intentional self-engineering. When you write your own code, you are defining the logic that governs your reactions, your ambitions, and - most importantly - your interactions with others.
Discovering Boundaries: Relationships often fail or cause friction because the “rules of engagement” are unwritten and inconsistent. A microphilosophy allows you to hard-code your boundaries. If your philosophy values “radical autonomy,” your code will automatically flag when a relationship is becoming codependent or overstepping. You aren’t being “difficult”; you are simply adhering to your compiled logic.
Deep Self-Understanding: The act of choosing which “philosophical modules” to keep forces you to confront who you actually are. If you find yourself repeatedly discarding rules about “external validation,” you learn that your core driver is internal excellence. This self-knowledge eliminates the cognitive dissonance that comes from trying to live by someone else’s definition of success.
Defining Words
A powerful way to define your own philosophy is to define words, which is something I did inspired by Alex Hormozi. Alex talks about this more here
While Hormozi is a behaviouralist and seeks to understand behaviours and outcomes to maximise results, I define words more to how useful they are and how clearly it helps me understand the nature of the world.
I’ve spent many years learning Chinese, and I turned that around to redefine English words to build my own world view but also as a way to discover the first principles to how the world works, which is a progress I highly recommend to think clearly, and originally.
This is particularly more important in the age of AI when AI uses the average of words from online. By feeding definitions to AI we also help it build its worldview.
The Intersection of Being: Ikigai
Ikigai, often translated as your “reason for being,” acts as the structural framework for an internal philosophy. It is famously represented by the intersection of four distinct circles: what you love, what you are good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for. While many people chase just one or two of these—focusing only on profit or only on passion—Ikigai suggests that true fulfillment and sustained drive only occur at the “sweet spot” where all four overlap. It’s the difference between a job that pays well but leaves you hollow and a calling that fuels you because it utilizes your specific talents to solve a real-world problem.
When you find this intersection, it functions as the “fuel” for your internal philosophy. It takes the abstract concept of “purpose” and turns it into a practical map. By identifying where your unique skills meet a genuine market or social need, you move away from the friction of forced labor and into a state of active leverage. In this state, you aren’t just “working”; you are manifesting your philosophy through your output. This alignment is what creates the high-level drive—the psychological peace of knowing that your daily actions are the most effective use of your existence.
The Environmental Layer:
Alignment isn’t just internal; it’s also about the geography and space you occupy.
Spatial Purpose: Your physical environment - from the architecture of your home to the urban planning of the city you live in - either adds friction to your bicycle or creates a tailwind.
The Supply Chain of Success: Advocating for better housing or more nature-inspired design isn’t just a hobby; it’s about ensuring the physical world is aligned with the flourishing you are trying to create.
Powering Technology with Human Intent
Technology is an exponential multiplier, but multipliers work in both directions. If your intent is fuzzy, AI will simply help you arrive at the wrong destination faster. Aligning technology with human intent means moving away from being a “notification system” for your tools and moving toward a state where your agentic AI acts as a direct extension of your curated microphilosophy.
Powering Technology with Human Intent on A Larger Scale
For companies and countries.
On a macro level, the challenge for companies and nations is no longer the acquisition of technology, but the alignment of collective intent. When an organization or a country possesses an enormous power and massive capital but runs it on a mountain of legacy bureaucracy and misaligned values, the result is catastrophic friction and waste.
Scaling intent requires a redefining the Collective Culture - a shared “source code” that transforms an entire entity into a sovereign multipler. For a company, this alignment is the only path to Strategic Sovereignty; without it, the organization becomes a mere “notification system” for market trends and technological whims.
For individuals, this is essential in the companies you are building and it’s essential to choose the company and country that aligns with yourself to build that into your own force multiplier.
Aligning Leverage
Leverage - comprising code, capital, content, and people - represents the "Ferrari engine" of modern productivity, yet it remains fundamentally ineffective if it is mounted on the "bicycle" of a weak or unrefined internal philosophy. Without alignment to human intent, these powerful forces remain omnidirectional and scattered, resulting in energy that moves in a thousand directions at once but leads nowhere. However, when intent acts as the foundational "source code," it organizes these disparate forms of leverage into a state of Szegemon, stacking them in a straight line to create massive gravitational effects and momentum. This alignment transforms the nature of work from soul-draining labor into high-level orchestration, allowing you to harness the torque of your technology to move from being a mere participant to a "category of one". By filtering out the noise and focusing on the signal of your specific purpose, you ensure that every unit of leverage you deploy is an exponential multiplier of your own power and sovereignty.
